Fireside chat with Pat Divilly

Hi Pat,

Thanks for joining us on our Fireside Chat! Some people know you as a high performance coach, some know you as a corporate speaker. Others recognize you as a traveler, or as the author of a book that changed their life.

We gather that you are an Influencer within the Lifestyle, Wellbeing, Mindfulness and Nutrition space.

Before we go ahead with the Fireside Chat we are going to put you through our traditional horoscope verdict :)

So you are a Virgo and a rabbit in the Chinese horoscope. Chinese people consider the rabbit as a tame creature, representing hope for a long time. They are tender and lovely.

The common positive traits we found are that you are modest, reliable and analytical. By the looks of it this Fireside Chat will be a mixture of emotions and pragmatism. Let’s do this!

So, Pat, do you still remember what was your childhood dream?

Pat: Yes, I do... I wanted to be a professional wrestler! I grew up obsessed with pro wrestling, then discovered martial arts and weight training.

Interviewer: A wrestler, now I am picturing you jumping up the ropes doing bodyslams - to our readers PLEASE don’t do this at home :)

Let’s move to another muscle, can you share with us the best book you ever read?

Pat: The best book I ever read...it has to be The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale.

Interviewer: This is the book that after reading it one will discover the secrets of leaving a calm, cheerful and successful lives.

Pat, you’re a great inspiration and mentor for others but what is the best advice you ever received from someone?

Pat: The best advice I received was from my dad he said… “Regardless of where you are in life there's someone you can help".

Interviewer: Wise words and I can see why those words are important for you, It's important to know that we get a helping hand from others and that we don’t have do it alone.

This leads us perfectly to the next question, what advice would you give someone beginning their lifestyle transformation journey?

Pat: Definitely to block off a day with no technology and no distraction, in order to get on paper what you want, why you want it and how you hope to get there.

Interviewer: It sounds so simple and yet it’s a hard one to do. Sometimes going back to basics is the key to clarity. In other words - be present!

Pat, can you share with us, what are the 3 main techniques you use to motivate yourself?

Pat: The three main techniques I use to motivate myself is one I journal daily, secondly I 'track my wins’ and thirdly I set 90 day targets in each key area of life.

Interviewer: That requires discipline, I can see the analytical trait that we spoke earlier on your horoscope verdict :)

And what would you consider to be your 3 major strengths?

Pat: I have to say that I wear my heart on my sleeve, I'm innovative and I consider myself self aware.

Interviewer: It looks like the Chinese horoscope was bang on when they said that you were a tame creature representing hope for a long time.

Building upon those strengths, Can you tell us 3 areas you would like to improve?

Pat: I would like to improve on my consistency, in other words I’d like to be more consistent in certain areas! I'd like to play 'the long game' more and spend less time online!

Interviewer: I like the fact that you closed with “spending less time online”, it's important that we disconnect a bit to truly re-connect with what matters the most.

Pat it's coming to that time that we get close to wrapping up the fireside chat and asking you the big question.

Here it goes, Pat, what is your major goal in 2018?

Pat: My intention is to be playful, confident and inspiring!

Interviewer: Short and direct, love it :) I am sure you are well on your way to achieving those goals.

Thanks for playing with us ;) it has been an absolute pleasure and most importantly thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
